GEDC Article: A Roadmap to Successful Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Across a Healthcare System
The Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC) released an article, "A Roadmap to Successful Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Across a Healthcare System."
One way that healthcare systems can reduce avoidable hospitalizations is by addressing the needs of older adults in emergency departments and connecting older adults to outpatient resources. The article is a roadmap with an overview of the necessary steps to successful system-wide implementation of GED accreditation. The roadmap was created for individual GED administrative and clinical leaders (MD, RNs) who are interested in the process of accreditation throughout their entire healthcare system but may not have any idea where or how to start the accreditation journey.
