General Surgery News Interview: Between Two Scalpels - ACS Geriatric Surgery Verification Program

ACS GSV interview

General Surgery News has published a video interview titled, "Between Two Scalpels: the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Geriatric Surgery Verification Program."

In the interview, Dr. Peter Kim talks to Drs. Hemant Keny, Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center, and Matthew Schiralli, Rochester Regional Health, about the ACS Geriatric Surgery Verification (GSV) program and their standard best practices for older patients.

The surgeons explain the GSV program in detail and talk about how the program helps care teams treat the entire patient rather than just a specific condition, and the benefits for both patients and hospitals. They also talk about how the GSV program implements the CMS Age-Friendly Hospital Measure, and discuss such issues as surgery training programs.
