GIA Issue Brief: Age-Friendly Health Systems
Grantmakers in Aging (GIA) has published an issue brief, "Age-Friendly Health Systems."
Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) aim to follow an essential set of evidence-based practices; cause no harm; and align with what matters to older adults and their caregivers.
This issue brief, authored by Mary Tinetti, M.D., provides both background information and an update on the new movement that seeks to transform how our healthcare system approaches the care of older adults. In particular, the brief covers the roll of telemedicine, age-friendly emergency care, diverse older adults, and future opportunities for the AFHS initiative. It also lays out grantmaker support and age-friendly resources.
