Grantmakers in Aging Webinar: Under the Radar - Older People in Humanitarian Crises

Humanitarian Crisis Webinar

Grantmakers In Aging, in collaboration with HelpAge USA, American Society on Aging, and the National Council on Aging, is hosting a webinar on the challenges older people face in disasters, the situation in specific countries and regions, and what we can do to assist older people living in the most difficult circumstances.

Older people are often overlooked in humanitarian responses – and the situation is even more dire when the crisis itself is under the radar. For example, the drought in East Africa and flooding in Pakistan put older people at extreme risk, but these disasters rarely make the news. Speakers will speak to these various aspects of older adult care in humanitarian crises. Speakers include:

  • Cindy Cox-Roman, President and CEO, HelpAge USA
  • Carole Ageng’o, Global Initiatives & Regional Representative Africa, HelpAge International
  • Francisco Osuna, Humanitarian Program Manager Latin America and the Caribbean, HelpAge International
  • Syed Mooez, Country Director, Pakistan, HelpAge International
  • Jane Buchanan, Advocacy Advisor, HelpAge USA

The webinar is sponsored by The John A. Hartford Foundation.
