Health Affairs GrantWatch has published a blog, "States Take Up Palliative Care - NASHP’s Work With The John A. Hartford Foundation."

The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) is supporting state policy makers efforts to improve palliative care access and quality. NASHP has documented palliative care policy activity in all 50 states, the blog notes, and with JAHF support is building a series of state policy tools and resources on its Palliative Care Resource Hub.

The article focuses on strategies that 10 states recently identified that promote access to high quality palliative care services and ways to address common roadblocks. It describes the critical role that states can play in educating the public and providers on the value of palliative care services and their place in a comprehensive system of care for people with serious and chronic conditions.
