Dr. Sparks has extensive experience working with older adults in multiple healthcare settings. Her doctorate is in adult health nursing, with a concentration in geriatrics and specialization in Alzheimer's disease. She received a grant to develop and implement an undergraduate course and a certificate program about Alzheimer's disease, authored several articles related to delirium and dementia, presents nationally on aging topics, and received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Gerontological Nursing Association. She has personal as well as professional experience with Alzheimer's disease.
