Invitation to Join: HANYS 2023 NY Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Collaborative
The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is inviting health systems teams to join their 2023 New York Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Collaborative.
Geriatric emergency department accreditation is a nationwide initiative developed by leaders in emergency medicine to ensure older patients receive well-coordinated, appropriate, quality care during every ED encounter. This care model decreases hospital admissions, 30-day hospital readmissions and avoidable future ED visits. Hospitals pursuing geriatric ED accreditation can expect to improve care provided to older adults in the ED, establish resources required to provide high-quality care and signal to the public a focus on providing the highest standard of care for older adults in the community.
The collaborative provides technical assistance, educational opportunities and other support beginning January 2023. Through JAHF support, there are no fees to participate in the Geriatric ED Collaborative or apply for initial Level 3 (Bronze) accreditation.
HANYS is hosting an informational webinar on November 7. Speakers at the webinar include:
- Dora Fisher, MPH, CPHQ, Director, Post-Acute Care and Continuing Care, HANYS
- Adam Herbst, Deputy Commissioner, Aging and Long Term Care, Department of Health
- Kedar Mate, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer, Institute for Healthcare Improvement
