FAST-FORWARD, in partnership with Caring Across Generations, is hosting a virtual event July 21, "Look Into Your Future: A Conversation with Millennials and Baby Boomers About Caregiving," moderated by multimedia artist Jacquelyn Joyce of @MomofMyMom.

Award-winning documentary FAST-FORWARD follows four millennials and their parents as they travel through time to meet their future selves. Wearing an MIT-produced “aging empathy suit” and working with professional make-up artists, they grapple with the realizations, conversations and mindset required to age successfully.

In partnership with Caring Across Generations, FAST-FORWARD is honoring National Sandwich Generation Month by offering a free screening of the film in addition to the live virtual conversation on the unique challenges facing millennial caregivers. Millennials, the generation of those born between 1980 and 1996, represent about 10 million of the total 40 million unpaid caregivers in the US. As the population of older adults over the age of sixty-five doubles over the next generation, millennials are changing the face of caregiving.

Panelists will talk about:

  • Self-care is important...but where to find time, humor and yes, friends!
  • Creative communities and coping
  • "If I knew better, I’d do better"...where are the resources that are relevant to millennials?
  • How to talk with loved ones about preparing for aging in a society that stigmatizes aging

Panelists include moderator Jacquelyn Joyce, FAST-FORWARD Director and Producer Michael Eric Hurtig, cast member Drey Campbell, Caring Across Generations Director of Culture Change Ishita Srivastava and The John A. Hartford Foundation Vice President of Programs Rani E. Snyder.
