McKnight's Long-Term Care News has published an article, "Vast Majority of Providers Struggling to Fill Work Shifts or Hire New Employees: Industry Survey Shows."

The article discusses a mid-November survey among LeadingAge providers that found that workforce shortages, stress and safety concerns are among the top five staffing challenges operators are facing during the public health crisis.

"Workforce issues were among the major points of discussion for the Coronavirus Commission on Safety and Quality in Nursing Homes, according to member Terry Fulmer, Ph.D., RN, president of The John A. Hartford Foundation," noted McKnight's. 'First and foremost during this pandemic, our responsibility as a society is to keep the workforce safe, free of infection...At the end of the day, if your workforce is not healthy — and I mean that both physically and emotionally — they’re not going to be able to bring their best self to the work and to the residents every day,'” said Dr. Fulmer.
