McKnights Senior Living: Early Insights From an Initiative Engaging Older Adults at the Point Of Care
McKnights Senior Living has published a marketplace column article, "Early Insights From an Initiative Engaging Older Adults at the Point Of Care," featuring The John A. Hartford Foundation's VP of Program, Rani E. Snyder.
The article discusses a national initiative led by FAIR Health which aims to engage older adults and their caregivers in shared decision making. This initiative shows promise for engaging patients in healthcare decisions that reflect what matters to them, one of the essential elements in the 4Ms Framework of Age-Friendly care.
FAIR Health is collaborating with recognized Age-Friendly Health Systems (University of Pennsylvania, Ohio State University, Emory University, and University of Rochester) to evaluate the shared decision-making tools' use during clinical encounters.
Preliminary results are available and this effort will culminate in a public report by 2026, offering actionable findings for clinical practice, policy and philanthropy.
