Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition Video: Goals, Preferences and Priorities - What Matters Most to Residents

Moving Forward video

The Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition, in partnership with A.G. Rhodes, Kansas State University (KSU), Dash Media and JAHF, has released a short video titled, “The Foundation of Our Work: What Matters Most to Residents."

The video answers questions around why we care so much about residents’ goals, preferences, and priorities, how we can make this deep, personal care part of everything we do as nursing home professionals and what that looks and feels like when done well.

The video also serves as an overview to the Guide to Addressing Residents’ Goals, Preferences and Priorities. The KSU Center on Aging is piloting the guide in up to 30 nursing homes over the next two years. This work seeks to raise national awareness and expertise in making all nursing home care truly focused on what matters most to residents.

Additionally, the Coalition is hosting a discussion on Thursday, November 7 at 3pm ET, "Mental and Behavioral Health Care in Nursing Homes: What We Can Do Now." Register and join them to learn about policies and practices to advocate for to improve care for residents with serious mental illness.
