NASEM Workshop: Advancing Value-Based Payment for People with Serious Illness to Align Financing with Quality
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) is holding a hybrid public workshop on November 6 called "Advancing Value-Based Payment for People with Serious Illness to Align Financing with Quality." It is being held both online and in-person in Washington, D.C.
The workshop will explore how value-based payment is transforming the way health care is delivered and financed in the U.S. For individuals living with serious illness, this shift raises important questions about access, affordability and quality of care
The workshop will examine:
- Current effects of value-based payment on people living with serious illness.
- The role of interdisciplinary care teams in ensuring quality care.
- Policy and practice opportunities to better align payment models with patient and family needs.
