Ensuring Aging Content in Diagnostic Excellence Initiatives: Forum on Advancing Diagnostic Excellence and National Academy of Medicine Scholars in Diagnostic Excellence
Grant Summary
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will establish a Forum on Advancing Diagnostic Excellence to foster an ongoing dialogue to examine the current scientific landscape and research opportunities for improving diagnosis within the US health care system. Each year of the grant, the Forum will meet three times and host three public workshops. The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation provides funding for the initiative and JAHF co-funding will add an emphasis on older adults. JAHF will support one aging-focused scholar in the National Academy of Medicine Scholars in Diagnostic Excellence program for each of three years, which is also funded by the Moore Foundation. The program is designed to support the early career development of scholars from a broad range of disciplines and professions (including physicians, advanced practice clinicians, quality experts, informaticians, and researchers) who are interested in focusing on improving diagnosis.
