NASEM Workshop Proceedings Report: Serious Illness Care Research: Exploring Current Knowledge, Emerging Evidence, and Future Directions
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) has released workshop proceedings report, "Serious Illness Care Research: Exploring Current Knowledge, Emerging Evidence, and Future Directions."
The NASEM Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness held a public workshop on November 2-3, 2023. The purpose of the workshop was to identify research gaps and challenges and explore strategies and opportunities to further develop the evidence base to improve care for all those living with serious illness, their families, and care partners.
Workshop presentations and discussions included topics on:
- improving the evidence base for serious illness care research;
- inclusive research approaches to advance health equity;
- quality measurement for serious illness care; and
- implementation of research into practice and more.
This workshop proceedings report summarizes the presentations and discussions that occurred at the 2023 workshop.
