NASHP Blog: States Use Appendix Ks to Provide Innovative Flexibilities for Medicaid Enrollees and Caregivers during COVID-19
The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) has published a blog, "States Use Appendix Ks to Provide Innovative Flexibilities for Medicaid Enrollees and Caregivers during COVID-19."
The blog describes how states have been using the Appendix K Emergency Preparedness and Response authority to temporarily modify Medicaid 1915(c) home- and community-based services waivers to quickly provide more flexible services and supports to Medicaid enrollees and, indirectly, to their caregivers.
Approaches taken by four states, Connecticut, Georgia, Utah and Washington State, are highlighted in the blog, along with next steps. NASHP also regularly updates its interactive tracking map of state Appendix K amendments.
