NASHP Palliative Care: A State Resource Guide

NASHP Palliative Care A State Resource Guide

The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) has released a new resource guide for state officials, "Palliative Care: A State Resource Guide."

The palliative care model is grounded in evidence that demonstrates improved quality of life, better outcomes and reduced costs, but only a fraction of individuals who could benefit from palliative care receive it.

This resource guide - consisting of three briefs that can be read as stand-alone resources as well as part of the overarching document - offers state officials tools and examples to increase access to palliative care in their state:

  • Texas: Helping Patients, Caregivers, and the Public Understand Palliative Care
  • New Jersey: Facilities Connect Patients to Services
  • Florida and Oregon: Connecting Patients to Services via Primary Care Providers
  • Arizona: Connecting Patients to Services via Their Case Manager
