NASHP Palliative Care: A State Resource Guide
The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) has released a new resource guide for state officials, "Palliative Care: A State Resource Guide."
The palliative care model is grounded in evidence that demonstrates improved quality of life, better outcomes and reduced costs, but only a fraction of individuals who could benefit from palliative care receive it.
This resource guide - consisting of three briefs that can be read as stand-alone resources as well as part of the overarching document - offers state officials tools and examples to increase access to palliative care in their state:
Connecting Patients to Palliative Care
- Texas: Helping Patients, Caregivers, and the Public Understand Palliative Care
- New Jersey: Facilities Connect Patients to Services
- Florida and Oregon: Connecting Patients to Services via Primary Care Providers
- Arizona: Connecting Patients to Services via Their Case Manager
Supporting a Palliative Care Workforce
- Colorado: Establishing Regulatory Standards and Supporting Providers
- Texas: Using Data to Assess Workforce Needs
- Tennessee: Webinars for Ongoing Learning and Mentorship to Support New Providers
