NASHP RAISE Act State Policy Roadmap for Family Caregivers: Part 5 - Using Research, Data, and Evidence-Informed Practices to Support Family Caregivers

RAISE Act part 5

The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) has released section 5 of its RAISE Act State Policy Roadmap for Family Caregivers, "Using Research, Data, and Evidence-Informed Practices to Support Family Caregivers."

The purpose of the roadmap is to support states that are interested in developing and expanding supports for family caregivers of older adults by offering practical resources on identifying and implementing innovative and emerging policy strategies. This particular section focuses on how data is central to a states' ability to support caregivers and understand their needs to provide them with the support and services needed to help them continue providing care at home.

State data collection on family caregivers is very limited, especially for minority populations, often states lack the resources to pay for extensive family caregiver data collection and program evaluation. This section highlights strategies and promising practices that states can use to support a state-level data collection and evidence base.
