ODPHP's Report & Move Your Way Campaign
The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion in the US Department of Health and Human Services has released a report, "The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Midcourse Report: Implementation Strategies for Older Adults."
The report highlights proven strategies to increase physical activity among older adults in key settings and reinforces the amount and types of physical activity older adults need. These strategies can be implemented by professionals working with older adults to encourage physical activity wherever older adults spend their time — including in community, health care and home settings. The report includes policy, systems and environmental approaches, behavior change strategies and physical activity programs.
The Move Your Way campaign has community resources that can help older adults learn about the benefits and find activities that work for them. Share Move Your Way community resources with your networks —including materials for older adults and the newly updated activity planner that older adults can use to plan and track their activity throughout the week. Record a 7-60 second video telling us about your favorite physical activities and include the hashtag #MoveYourWay to be featured on the ODPHP website and social media channels.
