Parkinson's Foundation Podcast Episode: Improving Safety and Parkinson’s Care in the Hospital
The Parkinson's Foundation has released a new podcast episode, "Improving Safety and Parkinson’s Care in the Hospital." One of the interviewees is Leslie J. Pelton, senior program officer at JAHF.
The Parkinson’s Foundation Hospital Care Learning Collaborative—part of its Hospital Care Initiative—brings together a peer-led national network of hospitals and health systems that share best practices and lessons learned to improve care before, during, and after hospitalization.
This episode features Rebecca Miller, an associate professor at the Yale School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry, and a person living with young-onset Parkinson’s. She is joined by Leslie J. Pelton. Together, they do a deep dive into why hospital safety is especially critical for people with Parkinson’s and highlight ongoing efforts to advance safer care, including initiatives such as the Age-Friendly Health Systems and the 4Ms framework.
Leslie J. Pelton talks about resources such as the 4Ms Worksheet and My Health Checklist as additional tools for preparing for a hospital visit.
