PHI has published a report, "It’s Time to Care: A Detailed Profile of America’s Direct Care Workforce," the first in a yearlong series of reports on the importance and impact of the direct care workforce.
Direct care workers provide assistance with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living across care settings. Every day, nearly 4.5 million direct care workers support older adults and people with disabilities across the U.S.
The report discusses terminology, definitions, and the evolving direct care role, gives a statistical profile with key demographics, socio-economic characteristics, and employment projections, and details implications of the findings.
