Respecting Choices: Summer/Fall 2021 Virtual Advance Care Planning Courses
Respecting Choices has developed a set of virtual Advance Care Planning courses for Summer/Fall 2021 for those working in any care setting, from clinical to community, to help participants become better communicators.
The national courses - for nurses, physicians, social workers, advanced practitioners, clergy, and leaders of advance care planning programs - are tailored to help meet the needs of the individuals you work with based on their stage of health.
First Steps ACP is the foundation for weaving ACP discussions into person-centered care and preventive healthcare for all adults. When integrated in the community or outpatient setting, First Steps ACP helps to normalize the concept of planning and to orient individuals to the importance of identifying their goals, values, and preferences for future healthcare decisions. Registration closes September 20, 2021.
Next Steps ACP is offered to individuals with serious illness who have potential for complications, to assesses the individual’s understanding of disease progression, their treatment options, and identify their goals of care. Registration closes August 18, 2021.
Advanced Steps ACP is a component of quality care for frail elders and those whose are in their last few years of life, focused on goals of care to make timely, proactive, and specific medical decisions. The POLST program is the nationally recognized model for this stage of planning. Registration closes October 5, 2021.
