RIC Webinar Recording: Supporting Family Caregivers of Older Adults through Times of Stress and Isolation
Resources for Integrated Care (RIC) held a webinar April 30, “Supporting Family Caregivers of Older Adults through Times of Stress and Isolation.”
Due to the emergency brought on by COVID-19, family caregivers of older adults may be experiencing new challenges and uncertainty in their roles and others may newly be taking on caregiving responsibilities. Providers and health plan staff that serve people dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid can play key roles in supporting caregivers, particularly during this crisis.
This webinar offered strategies for supporting caregivers and their loved ones, up-to-date information on how caregivers can access health and social support, as well as practical tips for addressing the specific needs of caregivers experiencing social isolation and stress-related conditions. The webinar also covered strategies that are relevant in virtual settings.
Speakers included:
- Erin E. Emery-Tiburcio, Ph.D., ABPP, Co-Director of Rush Center for Excellence in Aging, Rush University Medical Center
- Kathy Kelly, Executive Director, Family Caregiver Alliance/National Center on Caregiving
- Bryan Godfrey, LCSW; Care Management Social Worker, UNC Geriatrics Specialty Clinic
