RUSH Center for Excellence in Aging's Caring for Caregivers Model: Introductory Webinar for Age-Friendly Health Systems
RUSH University Medical Center is holding introductory webinars for healthcare systems to learn how the Caring for Caregivers (C4C) Model can improve outcomes for caregivers of older adults and health systems.
Introductory webinars are available September through February.
Designed around the Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative's 4Ms (What Matters, Medication, Mentation, Mobility) to be implemented in a variety of healthcare settings, the C4C Model has been developed to incorporate family caregivers into the Age-Friendly care of older adults.
Preliminary data from RUSH shows statistically and clinically significant reductions in symptoms of depression, anxiety and burden for caregivers who have engaged in the intervention. Additionally, those being cared for are also benefiting, with preliminary findings showing fewer visits to the emergency department, fewer hospitalizations and shorter lengths of stay. RUSH anticipates similar positive outcomes at other Age-Friendly Health Systems that will be adapting the Caring for Caregivers model.
