Six States Selected to Participate in NASHP’s State Policy Institute to Improve Care for People with Serious Illness

NASHP Six States Selected

The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) has selected six states to participate in their State Policy Institute to Improve Care for People with Serious Illness.

NASHP invited state applications to participate in their 2023-2025 State Policy Institute to Improve Care for People with Serious Illness and selected six states from the applicants. The institute will engage these selected state teams over two years to receive technical support from NASHP and subject matter experts on serious illness and palliative care policy. Participating teams will be helped with the development of state-specific actuarial models for Medicaid palliative care benefits.

The six states are:

  • Colorado
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Ohio
  • Texas
  • Washington

The goal of the State Policy Institute to Improve Care for People with Serious Illness is to assist states working to develop, implement, and enhance policy and systems supporting care for individuals with complex conditions and serious illness.
