Coalition for Care Partners Issue Brief: Shared Access to the Patient Portal
The Coalition for Care Partners has published an issue brief titled, "Shared Access to the Patient Portal."
Jointly written by the Roger C. Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the brief underscores the pressing need to update policies governing shared access to patient portals, especially for older adults.
The brief also points out that while shared access can enhance safety, care coordination, and support for caregivers, existing approaches frequently lead to insecure methods and unequal treatment of care partners.
