Diverse Elders Coalition: Policy Priorities to Address Needs of Diverse Older Adults

DEC Policy Priorities 560

The Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC), in collaboration with it's six national member organizations, has released new Policy Priorities to address the needs of diverse older adults.

Not only is the U.S. older adult population rising rapidly but it is also becoming increasingly diverse. DEC’s Policy Priorities outline four key pillars for policymakers to elevate and strengthen:

  • Ensure Equitable Access to the Spectrum of Services and Lifelong Needs for Diverse Older Adults;
  • Provide Adequate Resources to Enable Diverse Older Adults to Age in a Place of their Choice, within Age-Friendly Communities;
  • Address the Needs of Diverse Caregivers for Older Adults; and
  • Expand Data Collection, Disaggregation, and Reporting both among and within Diverse Populations.

DEC's six member organizations include the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging, the National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center, the National Hispanic Council on Aging, the National Indian Council on Aging and SAGE: Advocacy and Services for LGBT Elders.
