World Elder Abuse Awareness Day: Join Us in Building Stronger Supports for Older Adults
Join us and our network of grantees and colleagues in recognizing World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) on June 15 by using the below resources and joining a webinar, "Trauma-Informed Practices to Address Abuse and Build Resilience."
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse and neglect.
The Elder Justice Coordinating Council and the Administration for Community Living-funded National Center on Elder Abuse are holding a series of events to highlight WEAAD. A June 15 webinar, hosted by USC Center for Elder Justice, in collaboration with partner organizations, will focus on "Trauma-Informed Practices to Address Abuse and Build Resilience." The webinar features JAHF grantee, the Diverse Elders Coalition.
