Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition Conversation: Strengthening Nursing Home Leadership - Lessons from Moving Forward Michigan
The Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition is holding a Coalition Conversation webinar March 10 on, "Strengthening Nursing Home Leadership: Lessons from Moving Forward Michigan."
Nursing homes continue to face real challenges building leadership capacity and sustaining meaningful Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) work amid staffing shortages, leadership turnover, and competing demands. The Moving Forward Michigan initiative was designed to test a practical, affordable approach to strengthening leadership skills and QAPI readiness in under-resourced nursing homes. Four Michigan nursing homes participated in this 18-month program.
In this webinar, one of the participating nursing homes will share key lessons from the project’s mixed-methods evaluation. Speakers will highlight practical tools developed through the project, including an open-access QAPI Workbook and updated leadership modules from NurseLEAD, and will also discuss how this model can be adapted and replicated in other settings.
Speakers include:
- Nancy Swierz, MSN, RN, CMC, Program Director of Moving Forward Michigan
- Alice Bonner, PhD, RN, Chair, Moving Forward Coalition, Senior Advisor for Aging, Institute for Healthcare Improvement
- Chrissy Horton, Program Champion, Moving Forward Coalition
- Michelle Moccia, DNP, ANP-BC, GS-C, Michigan State Leadership in Long Term Care Team Lead
