NAC RAISE Policy Brief How the 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Advances Supports for Family Caregivers

The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) RAISE has published a policy brief, "How the 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Advances Supports for Family Caregivers."

The 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule has introduced new billing codes for caregiver training services. This allows those eligible to bill Medicare for providing training and education to caregivers of those with chronic illnesses or disabilities.

The new provision aims to enhance patient care by giving caregivers the knowledge and skills needed to support their loved ones and manage their conditions effectively. The final rule also includes payments proposed for services that address health-related social needs and improve access to mental and behavioral treatments.

These new provisions align with the 2022 National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers and are a milestone toward achieving Goal 2 of the National Strategy.
