NASHP Blog: Rural Health Transformation Program - State Focus on Aging
The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) has recently published a blog, "Rural Health Transformation Program: State Focus on Aging."
The blog is a part of a series taking a closer look at targeted health priorities being advanced by states in their Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) applications to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Each state developed a plan in their applications to expand health care access, strengthen workforces, build infrastructure and technology, and support care delivery innovation within rural communities.
NASHP policy experts reviewed the publicly available RHTP applications from 47 states to identify trends in aging-related initiatives. This blog identifies key areas where states proposed to address rural health and aging.
The RHTP call for applications from CMS did not specify aging as a priority area, so these highlights of aging initiatives in applications are significant.
