National Alliance for Caregiving Webinar: The New Landscape - HR1 and What's at Stake for Family Caregivers
The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) is holding a webinar February 26 on "The New Landscape: HR1 and What's at Stake for Family Caregivers."
With the passage of H.R. 1, the definition of "community engagement" has fundamentally shifted, creating a new and urgent challenge for the millions of family caregivers who rely on Medicaid. While the law technically includes an exemption for caregivers, the burden of proof and the technical hurdles of verification threaten to disenroll those who are already providing essential, unpaid care.
This webinar dives into the technical and political realities of H.R. 1 through a caregiving lens. Experts from across the caregiving ecosystem will examine the "pain points" of implementation—from the lack of automated verification for caregiving hours to the administrative strain on state agencies—and provide a comprehensive look at how states are navigating these new mandates.
Speakers include:
- Elaine Dalpiaz, Vice President for Government Affairs & Policy, NAC
- Toni Gingerelli, MPP, Director of Policy & Advocacy, NAC
- Jennifer Dexter, Vice President, Policy, National Health Council
- Brendan Flinn, MPH, Director, Long-Term Services and Supports, AARP Public Policy Institute
- Natalie Kean, Director, Federal Health Advocacy, Justice in Aging
