Permanente Live Webinar Recording: Meeting the Health Needs of an Aging Population

Permanente Live webinar on aging

Permanente Live held a webinar, May 15, on "Meeting the Health Needs of an Aging Population," with leaders from The John A. Hartford Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan and AARP.

Older adults are the fastest growing population in the US and, by 2030, people older than 65 will make up more than 21% of the population. To ensure that the needs of this population are met, a health care delivery system that promotes aging with dignity, independence, and choice is necessary. During the webinar, health and aging leaders discussed strategies for caring for this generation who are revolutionizing healthy aging while at the same time living longer with more complex health and social needs.

The expert panel covered topics such as the importance of prevention, the role of family caregivers, health care system innovations, the role of primary care, recruiting and workforce retention, and policy recommendations needed to help bring about change. Panelists included:

  • Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN, president, The John A. Hartford Foundation
  • Wendolyn S. Gozansky, MD, MPH, vice president and chief quality officer, Colorado Permanente Medical Group at Kaiser Permanente
  • Sachin H. Jain, MD, MBA, FACP,CEO, SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan
