Diverse Elders Coalition Resource: H.R. 1 Implementation Factsheet
Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC) has released an "H.R. 1 Implementation Factsheet" designed to help caregivers, service providers and community advocates understand the policy changes triggered by the 2025 budget reconciliation bill.
The DEC factsheet notes that for family caregivers—especially those supporting older adults with complex health needs—H.R. 1’s cuts to Medicaid and SNAP carry serious implications. It outlines how the law’s $792 billion reduction in federal Medicaid spending and $290 billion in cuts to SNAP may disrupt access to home- and community-based services, medical coverage, nutrition assistance, and financial stability.
The factsheet also provides a user-friendly implementation timeline, with bolded enactment dates, to help caregivers anticipate when changes may affect the older adults they support.
DEC has also published factsheets on SNAP and Medicaid, which they discussed in an MLK Day blog post.
